About us....
Hello everybody, ever felt that there was something missing in your everyday routine...
When I was in my school we were taught that we should consider a day to be complete or fruitful if we can make someone happy or help some out out atleast once in a day. At that time what that meant to me was helping a blind man find his work place which was about half a kilometer away or just making friends with the old man who was running a laundry across the road and occasionally helping a really old woman who had no one with some food left over at home. Pretty simple interpretation of what we were taught to do.
Fast forward some 5 or 6 years and suddenly there was not much scope for practising this owing to the busy schedule we all have. The only people I was helping were my collegeues and the only person I was keeping happy was my client (working in a MNC as a consultant). while this was exactly why i was hired to do, i began to wonder along with some of my collegues if this is what would make a complete day. the answer was a simple NO.
While our thoughts were along these lines, we were given an opportunity to help out an orhangae that one of our collegue Reshmi had been to. When we heard about the problems that this orhpanage was facing it became clear this is something we could help out with. When we discussed about the possibility of our involvement, we were clear that it has to go beyond providing some money for the orphanage. One of the main problems that the orphanage faced was the inconsistency in the funds that they were getting. This lead to the idea that we should probably help them in finding some way to help themselves such that they would be able to survive the fluctuating fund situation.
So thats the way we formed this group called Koshish-Effort signifying the effort towards helping them and making them independent.
